Privacy & Cookies Policy

1) Who we are
Avatar Video AI is an independent editorial website. We review and publish tutorials about AI video tools. We are not affiliated with HeyGen and do not use HeyGen logos or brand assets unless authorized.
2) What data we collect
- Browsing analytics (optional): page URLs, device/browser info, referrer, and aggregated engagement events (e.g., video starts/completions, scroll depth, newsletter submits, affiliate clicks). Loaded only if you consent to analytics.
- Newsletter (optional): if you subscribe, we process your email address and submission metadata (timestamp, page path, language, and any UTM parameters present in the URL at signup).
- Server/CDN logs: standard logs for security and delivery (e.g., IP, user agent, request path) retained by our hosting provider (Netlify) as per their policies.
3) Cookies & local storage
We use a minimal model with Consent Mode v2 semantics. Analytics is disabled by default and loads only after an explicit opt-in.
Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
---|---|---|---|
ava_consent_v2 (localStorage) |

ava_lang_hint_ts (localStorage) |
Necessary | Hides the non-blocking language suggestion after you saw it. | 30 days. |
ava_utm_cache (localStorage) |
Necessary | Persists UTM parameters to attribute newsletter signups. | 90 days. |
ava_bing_ping_ts (localStorage) |
Necessary | Rate-limits client-side sitemap ping fallback. | 3 days. |
_ga , _ga_* (GA4) |
Analytics (optional) | Used by Google Analytics 4 to distinguish visits (only after consent; IP anonymized; no Ads features). | As per GA4 standard lifetimes (subject to your consent and browser settings). |
4) Consent Mode v2
When you accept analytics, we update consent signals as follows:
analytics_storage
: grantedfunctionality_storage
/security_storage
: granted (necessary)ad_user_data
,ad_personalization
,ad_storage
: denied
If you reject analytics, GA4 is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set. You can review or change your choice anytime via the consent banner link in the footer or by clearing site data in your browser.
5) Purposes & legal bases
- Site operation & security (necessary cookies, CDN logs): legitimate interest.
- Analytics (GA4, anonymized IP): consent (opt-in).
- Newsletter (email): consent; you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in emails.
- Affiliate disclosure: we may use affiliate links. We do not perform brand bidding and respect merchant policies.
6) Third parties & transfers
- Google Analytics 4 (only with consent): data may be processed on Google infrastructure; IP anonymization is enabled.
- Netlify (hosting/CDN): static site hosting and delivery.
- Newsletter (optional): if configured, submissions are sent to a Google Apps Script Web App that writes to a Google Sheet under our control. Until keys/URLs are provided, the form operates in demo mode (no network request; data is not transmitted).
- reCAPTCHA v3 (optional): currently disabled. If enabled, Google’s service may collect device and interaction data to prevent abuse.
7) Retention
- Consent records (localStorage): up to 13 months.
- UTM cache: up to 90 days.
- Analytics data: as configured in GA4 (subject to consent and user controls).
- Newsletter data: retained while you remain subscribed or as required for compliance; removed on request.
8) Your rights (EEA/UK)
You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing, where applicable. You also have the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
9) How to exercise your rights
To exercise your rights or ask questions, please reach out using the contact details provided on this site. We will respond within applicable legal timeframes. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10) Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be indicated by the “Last updated” date above.
Notes for transparency: GA4 loads only after consent via our CMP-lite. reCAPTCHA and the newsletter Apps Script are disabled until keys/URL are configured; in that state, the form confirms in demo mode and logs to the console only.
